College Grants and Scholarships with No Essays and No Essay Contests

  • We have heard the requests for a list of scholarships without essays. We know that scholarships with no essay requirement would be great.

However, the scholarship with no essay is a hard-to-find scholarship.
The Grant program must also comply with federal regulations, and each PERM is checked by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office to ensure the grant is within each person’s need-based awards. Students are notified within 10 business days with the results of the review and whether they will be receiving the grant. If you do not have any federal funding, we will still verify the PERM number and then process the check accordingly.

There are plenty of scholarship essay contests. It can be SO VERY FRUSTRATING to write scholarship essay after essay and then be denied ANY scholarship. We would like to see more scholarships that would somehow award the money based on some other requirement than an essay.
The Future Leaders Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. You must be planning to enroll full-time in the fall and submit an essay of no more than 1000 words based on the questions posed on the sponsor’s website in order to qualify for this award.

However, it seems that a majority of college grants and scholarships require some type of essay. It is understandable how the sponsors of college scholarships for students would want to know more about the applicant through the use of an essay.
The Student-Caregiver Scholarship is available to full - time students who have been caring for an older relative while attending school, and intend to continue to do so while attending college. To be considered, you must submit your story through a 1500 - word essay or two - minute video detailing your experience being a caregiver.

After all, the sponsors want to know if the applicant has the ability to take that money and succeed.

YouTube Video: How to Find College Grants and Scholarships is a short six-minute video that gives you an overall look at where to find college grants and scholarships.

If you have no idea on where to start to find financial aid, then this video will give you a good idea on how to go about finding free money in the form of financial aid, grants, and scholarships for college or trade schools for a variety of groups of people such as nursing students, single moms, women, traditional students, non-traditional students, and just about any U.S. Citizen seeking scholarships with the least amount of eligibility requirements.
The good news is that as lawmakers begin to consider the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act this year, it will provide an important opportunity for strengthening and fortifying the Pell Grant system. From a college access perspective, efforts to insulate the program from the increasingly frequent volatility of partisan budget fights by authorizing mandatory funding would be a key step forward. Equally important, Congress should work to address the challenge of shrinking grant-to-tuition ratios by tying award amounts to the consumer price index, just as we do with Social Security benefits. That would provide some much-needed predictability around grant levels, not to mention increased purchasing power for students.

We continue to research college grants and scholarships. When we find a no essay scholarship, we will add it to the list. We know that there are plenty of scholarship essay contests, but hardly any "no essay contests." However, for now, here is a short list of college scholarships where no essay is required.

    AnyCollege.com Scholarship

    Sponsor: AnyCollege.com

Although the scholarship information may come and go from this website, please keep checking the website for updates.

Eligibility Requirements: This one is pretty easy.
Making college not only more affordable but also actually free for everyone has been the subject of much recent debate in Washington, in the national news and on the presidential campaign trail. While a wonderful concept in theory, such a proposal would be all but impossible in practice, given today’s political climate and the massive growth in government spending that a truly free college plan would require. What’s more, these ideas distract from the work we can and should be doing to strengthen an existing federal program that already makes college free, or mostly free, for many low-income students: the Pell Grant.

No scholarship essay is required. Basically, fill out a survey and wait to see if your name is drawn. Here is a quote from the website: “Choosing a college is difficult enough without wondering how you're going to pay for it, and AnyCollege.
Providing free college for everyone is a wonderful concept in theory, but it would be all but impossible in practice, argue Abigail Seldin and Kim Cook, and there is a realistic alternative.

com has set up a fund to award college scholarships for prospective students in order to ease the burden. Simply fill out the short survey below and you will be eligible to win a college scholarship in our next drawing.
All of the below scholarships require an essay entry - some as short as only 250 words - with interesting essay topics that range from safe driving and technology to America heroes and animal activism.

Scholarships will be awarded through random drawings.” All students are eligible, U.S. citizen or non-U.S. citizen. The student can use this money for a college, university, or technical school.

    Money: Four scholarships are awarded.
That disconnect is troubling for many reasons, not least of all because it means our poorest students are leaving money on the table. And in some cases, the perceived lack of affordable options could deter them from applying to college at all.

    Each scholarship is worth $2,000.

NextStepU Win Free Tuition Scholarship (NO ESSAY)

NextStepU offers two different main scholarships. One requires an essay, but this one does not.

“All students who register on NextStepU.com during an eligible drawing period and opt in to Win Free Tuition will qualify.”

Scholarship award for this NO ESSAY scholarship: One $2,500 scholarship will be awarded.

Unfortunately, the portion of college costs fully covered by Pell Grants is shrinking. While that is largely due to rising tuition rates and deep funding cuts to higher education budgets at the state level, it can also be attributed to stagnating support at the federal level. For proof, we need look no further than the most recent spending plan of the Budget Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, which sought to freeze Pell funding for the next 10 years.

    HeadSetPlus.com Scholarship Annual College Scholarship

    Sponsor: HeadSetPlus.com

Eligibility: High school senior entering college, current college students, or graduate. School. Student must have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be at least 16 years of age.

President Obama’s recent executive action allowing students to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid earlier in the year will help address these concerns. In fact, the change is projected to add as many as 50,000 new students to the Pell Grant ranks once implemented next fall. And yet we know more than two million students every year could qualify for federal financial aid but never even apply, including roughly 1.3 million students who would be eligible for the maximum Pell Grant.

Applicants must be legal residents or citizen of the United States. “Create a short YouTube video about yourself, your past achievements and how you can help shape the world around you, why college education is important, and tell us what motivates you? Give us examples what you have achieved in school and outside of school.”

    Money: $1,000.

Basically, the scholarship is open to “legal residents of the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States.

With a current maximum award of $5,775, Pell Grants cover virtually full freight at most community colleges and, when combined with need and merit-based institutional aid, can make a sizable dent in the bill at most public four-year schools, too. But while more than eight million low-income students used some form of the program last year alone, millions more never even knew it was an option.

They must be at least 18 years old at the time of application, and must be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.”

“Send us a photo, an essay, a video, a song, a poem or anything you can send via email to explain how a piece of software or technology has helped you to perform at a higher level academically than had that piece of software or technology not existed.”

    Topic may change per year.

    Money: First Place is $2,000.

For more than four decades, Pell Grants have allowed tens of millions of poor Americans to access the economic opportunity and personal empowerment that only a college education can provide. They are the original “free college” plan, and that’s something we should all be working to preserve.

Second Place is $1,000. Third Place is $500.

Zumper Apartments Search Scholarship (TWICE A YEAR)

There is a little bit of writing to be done, but it is so close to NOT being part of an essay contest that we have to include this scholarship on this list.

Sponsor: Zumper. Zumper is "a national home and apartment rental search site. Finding a place to rent has been difficult for too long, so we're out to completely change the game.

Finally, efforts to make Pell Grants available year-round have garnered strong bipartisan support, including the backing of President Obama and the U.S. Senate Health, Education and Labor Committee chairman, Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.). Legislators should seriously consider these grants as a means of increasingly flexibility for the growing number of students taking classes outside of the standard fall and spring semesters.

We've built the first apartment search platform that not only helps you find the perfect place, but also apply for an apartment."

Eligibility Requirements: "Any legal U.S. resident in high school or college who will be attending an accredited university or college in Fall 2015 is eligible to apply."

Zumper is "looking for outstanding students who have helped their classmates or community in a tremendous way. Maybe you started a club that raised $10,000 for charity, or championed recycling and sustainable practices across campus.

Brainstorm your ideas by writing down the core concept and jotting additional related ideas around it. You can do this in a number of ways: by listing the ideas in columns, composing a bubble diagram or drawing symbols representing your thoughts. When you have run out of ideas, use this list, diagram or drawing to determine which idea most fully addresses the actual essay question and its intentions. Organize the supporting thoughts into an outline with a logical flow of ideas.

Whatever it is, we’d love to hear about it!"

"To apply, please submit a short piece of writing, that includes the following:

    1. How you've impacted your fellow student body or community.
    2. An intro to housing near your school.

Set your essay aside for a few days. Come back to it with a fresh mind and re-read the essay question. Then read through your essay. Does it answer the question as you understand it? Have you made a strong point or realization? Is your introduction compelling and your conclusion strong? Concentrate on the content of your paper at this point and make sure it says everything you want it to say in response to the question asked.

Where are the best areas for students to live? You can also include up to 5 original images from around campus. If we like them, we may include them on our site and mobile apps (accredited to you of course!).

Recipients will be selected based on the overall strength of their application materials.

Take your time to consider the question from as many perspectives as you can conceive. Most grant essays focus on revealing your fundamental character. This might be done by asking you to respond to a greater issue based on research or it may be accomplished by asking you to reflect on important lessons learned through personal experience.

    "

    Money: $1,000.

    FormSwift $1,000 Summer Scholarship Contest

    Sponsor: FormSwift

    Eligibility Requirements:

    1. You must be a graduating senior in high school or enrolled in college.

Clearly, we in higher education need to do more work to ensure low-income students understand their full range of college and financial aid options. Our organizations are both grounded in the belief that, when it comes to college access, better information yields better outcomes. It’s the reason we teamed up in November to promote the Thankful4Pell campaign, a coordinated effort that brought students, educators, advocates and policy leaders together to raise awareness about the availability and importance of Pell Grants. But we also recognize that, without the necessary federal resources, our work to make the financial aid process easier to navigate can only go so far.

Community college, professional college, and graduate students are all eligible, in addition to undergraduates at four-year universities.
    2. You may not be related to any of FormSwift’s staff or our extended family.
Flesh out your essay by stringing your outline notes into full sentences, adding transitional phrases between thoughts (paragraphs) and adding detail as necessary. At this point, much of the hard work is already finished in the development of your outline, so this is where you can get a bit creative in adding in your unique voice. Remember to keep the writing formal, though.

    3. International students, including students from a college or graduating from a high school outside the United States, are also eligible to apply.
    4. We reserve the right to verify date of high school graduation and/or college enrollment.
Determine the exact nature of the essay question. Believe it or not, many people don't get the grant because they failed to answer the question asked. Read the essay prompt carefully, underline important key words and try to understand the fundamental interest of the grant-giving entity. The Writing Center at the Owens Group recommends researching the organization giving the grant to more fully understand their reason for asking this particular question.

Write a One to Two Page Business Plan or make a Business Plan Infographic about one of the following business industries for a chance to win the FormSwift Summer Scholarship:

    • A Bakery
    • A Restaurant
    • A Salon (Hair, Nails, etc)
    • A Trucking Company
    • A Personal Training Company

    Money: $1,000.

Chegg's $1,000 Weekly Scholarship (Practically, no scholarship essay)

    Sponsor: Chegg.

Chegg has now become MORE than just a company that rents textbooks. It appears that Chegg has acquired Zinch and now provides all kinds of college-related information, including scholarships. It appears that some of the scholarships funded by Zinch and Chegg are available, still.

Eligibility Requirements: All U.S. high school and college students are eligible.

Money: According to the website, SUPPOSEDLY Zinch gives away $1,000 a week.

and give entrants up to 280 characters to answer the question. Zinch will pick one winner with the best answer from among all entrants. Winners of the Zinch $1000 Weekly Scholarship, or individuals who referred such winners to Zinch, are not eligible to receive any matching funds from Zinch under any Zinch matching program.

The Mary Grant Charles Prize Scholarship is open to undergraduate students at Tufts University.

This is, practically, a scholarship without an essay. Basically, just answer a question.

For a few years, we have listed College Prowler as a source for about four scholarships. This year we see that the name of the company has kind of changed and the format of the scholarships/website has changed. The URL has changed, also. This is a good example of how difficult it is to track these scholarships.

Develop your outline with more detail. A more effective essay will include concrete examples, a compelling introduction, solid logical progression and a strong conclusion. The Owens Center also recommends using active, present-tense verbs and precise nouns.

All too often, there is a lot of change.

NICHE is the new name and will fund a number of scholarships, as well as provide a search service for scholarships. NICHE has continued the $2,000 NO ESSAY contest.

Sponsored by the Marine Corps Gazette, the MajGen Harold W. Chase Prize Essay Contest is open to all Marines on active duty and to members of the Selected Marine Corps Reserve.

Here are some links that you can continue to try to use.

It appears that, at least, the $2,000 "No Essay" scholarship is still available.

$2,000 “NO ESSAY” MONTHLY Scholarship is open to all current students and those planning to enroll within 12 months.

    Sponsor: American Fire Sprinkler Association

Okay, I admit that the application for this scholarship may be “different” but it is a pretty easy way to qualify for a scholarship.
Writing a grant essay can feel like a huge task if you've never written one before. In addition to the pressure of writing a good essay, you may feel as if your entire future is on the line. How do you go about putting your entire life experience into 500 words? What if you don't have any life experience? By following a few basic rules, though, you will be writing quality grant essays in no time.

I am not going to get into all the details of this contest but let me give you a brief summary. You read the “Fire Sprinkler Essay” at the website. You answer some questions. “For each question answered correctly, students will receive one (1) entry into a drawing for one of ten $2,000 scholarships. A total of ten (10) entries into the drawing is possible if the student answers all ten questions correctly.
If you enjoy expressing your opinions through writing, the scholarships on this list await your entries.

There are two main scholarships. One is the High School Senior Scholarship Contest where ten scholarships worth $2,000 each are awarded to high school seniors. The other scholarship is called the Second Chance Scholarship Contest.
The contest honors the essay that proposes and argues for a new and better way of “doing business” in the Marine Corps.

This is open to anyone “who has graduated high school or equivalency and wants to pursue a college degree or trade school education.” A total of five scholarships are awarded and each scholarship is worth $1,000.

Contact Information: Please visit the website to review all the information for both scholarships. http://www.afsascholarship.org.

Fantasy Sports Daily Scholarships (TWICE A YEAR)

    Source: Fantasy Sports Daily

Eligibility Requirements: "Having attended college ourselves, we appreciate the difficulty students face in financing their education, and we recognize the benefits a college education can provide. That's why our general scholarship rewards students who are looking to better themselves, who have goals and dreams, and who are committed to achieving a college degree and a successful future.

Revise again, this time looking for structure. Are the paragraphs in some sort of logical sequence? Does each paragraph deal with a single main idea and remain focused on that idea? Are there appropriate transitions between paragraphs? Have you put the paper into the appropriate format including citations and reference list? All of these elements can be easily overlooked by the student, but can be quite significant to the grant-giving authority. Once you are satisfied, set the essay aside one more time.

US students who are 16 years of age or older are encouraged to apply for our scholarships. High school students, undergraduate students, master degree students, and adult learners are all also encouraged to apply.
Preference is given to students whose writing reflects an interest in ancestry and genealogy.

    "

Okay, we know that this is NOT exactly a no essay scholarship, but the questions that you answer MAY be appealing to a lot of students. The answers are short essays, BUT the questions may be of interest to students who would not normally like to write an essay.

If the question asks about personal experience, reflect on those areas of your life that have bearing on the question. Find a story that meets the question's intention. If the question is more generally applicable, think of real-world issues that have relevance to your interests and research it well.

There are NOT many "no essay" scholarships out there, so we decided to add this scholarship to this list. After all, this scholarship is offered TWICE a year AND $1,000 for a scholarship is a very good financial award.

You answer questions listed on the website.

Research any uncertain points. This is, of course, essential if the essay question is a research-based question, but even personal essays can be enriched by a bit of research. A famous quote, a startling statistic or any other kind of real-world connection to the greater human experience might be just the hook you need for that compelling introduction.

Money: Two awards a year worth $1,000 for each scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements: The Dry Defender Protect Your Bed Scholarship is a $1,000 award open to any undergraduate or graduate student. To apply, students must make a creative piece (comic, short film, drawing, poem, etc) featuring the Dry Defender mascot.

    Money: $1,000.

    Sponsor: Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation

Eligibility Requirements: “CKSF offers a wide variety of scholarship quizzes throughout the year for U.S. high school, college, and graduate students. We even have some scholarships that parents can win for their children.” CKSF Scholarship Facts: All U.S. high school, college, and graduate students are eligible (parents can compete, too). Scholarship competitions consist of one or more quizzes with topics ranging from general "common knowledge" to specific academic subjects, books, websites, and even movies. Current and upcoming scholarship quizzes will appear in your account once you register. Scores are based on a combination of time and accuracy. Results are always accessible from our homepage.
Check your completed essay a third time looking for typos, punctuation errors, grammar mistakes or other mechanical issues. Be especially careful about misspelled words. Although spellcheck works well to catch glaring errors, autocorrect does not always choose the correct substitute and there is enormous potential to use an incorrect word with the simple replacement of a single letter, for example, hats and mats.

Students with the highest scores at the end of each competition win.

Money: Award amounts range from $250 to $2,500. CKSF scholarship awards may be used at any post-secondary school in the U.S.

    Sallie Mae Fund Scholarship Program

    Sponsor: The Sallie Mae Fund

We have modified this listing a number of times because Sallie Mae has made a number of changes to their website and information over the years.

For a number of years, scholarships provided by Sallie Mae seem to come and go. The thing to keep in mind is that apparently Sallie Mae will provide some scholarships, but you need to keep checking their website or organization in some way. As of this writing, the main web page to contact for scholarship information is: https://www.

You must possess the same creative qualities in the writing of prose and poetry to qualify for this award.

    salliemae.com/plan-for-college/scholarships/
    .

There have been a couple of things that have continued over the years:

    1. Occasionally, Sallie Mae will provide scholarships, BUT they change.
    2. Sallie Mae has added a free scholarship search service.
    3. You need to register.
    4. Some of the scholarships listed by Sallie Mae have had almost no requirements, including NO ESSAY. You need to keep checking the website.

There is some VERY GOOD information about scholarships and about searching for scholarships at this website. Sallie Mae is a very well-respected educational source
