Some people believe that bicycles are the best mode of transport in the cities, while others disagree.

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both views and give your opinion.
But on the other hand cycling has many disadvantages. For example, it's impossible to cycle in the rain, because you will get wet, dirty and cold. And it's also uncomfortable and dangerous to ride a bike in the town without cycling paths and secure bicycle parking, so it's very easy to find your bike stolen. More than that many people don't cycle because road systems in many cities aren't designed with cyclists in mind. Car drivers go too fast or aren't properly trained how to share the roads with cyclists. And I think the last disadvantage is that cyclists are exposed to the pollution from all the cars, buses and lorries on the road.

There is much controversy over whether bicycles are the best way of travelling to and fro in the cities.

Each view has both pros and cons.
Cycling as a means of transport. This is a very debatable subject. What reasons can make us change car for a bicycle? Are there any? Today reasons for riding a bike have changed.

There are many advantages of riding a bike. To begin with, cycling is a inexpensive form of transport. You do no have to spend money on things such as petrol or costly repairs. Moreover, cycling helps you stay fit. It’s a good form of exercise, particulary for the legs, heart and lungs. Finally, cycling is an environmentally-firiendly way to travel because it doesn’t create air polution.

However, riding a bike has also its disadvantages. Cities are a mine of fumes, which are very bad for our health. Riding a bike is such conditions can be dangerous. What is more, cycling on a busy roads isn’t very safe. Drivers don’t care about people on bikes. Finally, if you leave your bike near a shop it might be stolen.

All things considered, although there are some disadvantages to use your bike, I’m sure it’s very healthy. We can stay fit, and as a result live longer.

My opinion is that bicycle is not the best way to travel.

Travelling by bicycle obviously has plenty of advantages. It costs less than a car and it is good for our health. Furthermore, it does not take up much space. However, the main disadvantage of bicycle is that it is slow and thus can only be good if we travel short distance.

I'm not a talented cyclist, but I like to ride a bicycle very much. I usually ride my bike and listen to music. It helps me to be fit and keep myself healthy. The combination of fresh air, the smooth motion and the exercise makes cycling enjoyable!

Most cities are large and travelling by bicycle will be very time- consuming.

Lots of people travel by car in big cities. Of course, other means of transportation such as cars, motorbikes, underground, bus and so on can help us travel faster which is very convenient and saves our time.

One of the best ways to get motivated to cycle regularly is to join a training group or a club. This is great for motivation, especially if you're in a location with cold winters. But it also means it's important to ride with others who can ride safely in traffic, as groups of cyclists training is doubtless the biggest cause of altercations between cyclists and motorists.

The downside of this belief is that travelling these ways usually uses lots of fossil fuels and if they do not use fossil fuels, they can be expensive. Another bad point is that other means of transportation other than bicycles require parking space and cannot travel in narrow streets.
On the one hand cycling has many advantages. At first, when I ride a bike, I needn't use petrol or other fossil fuels, so I'm not emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and contributing to climate change. At second, on a bicycle I don't get stuck in traffic jams. It's a much quicker way to cross a city by bike than by other forms of transport. And at last the poisonous fumes and the aggressive speed of cars endangering our lives. I think my city would be better place if people replaced the cars with bicycles.

In addition, the cities are becoming more and more crowded and during rush hour, using cars, public transport usually creates traffic jams.

Having considered these views, I think that bicycles, despite being friendly to the environment, are not the best way to travel around the city.

However, it is best to travel by a means of transport which is friendly to the environment, fast and does not take up lots of space.
Lastly, one of the main virtues of cycling (that it's easier on the joints--especially the knees) becomes one of its liabilities as well. It is NOT considered a weight-bearing exercise, and so you should not neglect other types of exercise that will improve flexibility and strength.

Therefore electric motorbike and public transports that use renewable energies are the best options.

In conclusion, there are several ways to travel nowadays. I believe that people should turn to electric motorbikes and public means of transport which use renewable energies so as to benefit the environment and travel quickly without causing problems.

Learning to dress properly for the weather is important--particularly for the hands and feet. And if you have a group that doesn't like riding in the cold (or the snow) you can try another winter sport such as ice skating and cross country skiing. Many of our greatest cycling and skating stars have used the other sport for off-season cross-training--and have sometimes competed successfully in both sports. Some people will retire to the indoor trainer in winter, but personally I find getting out in all-weather to be more motivating and more fun.
